What LingunAI is
LingunAI is an AI language-learning web app built around one idea: you learn a language fastest by reading things you want to read, at a level you can follow, and keeping the words that stop you. It’s made for adults who study on their own, especially those past the beginner stage who’ve done the drills and want to read for real.
Most learners stall because the gap between textbook sentences and real text is too wide. A news article or a novel at B1 means a dictionary on every line. LingunAI closes that gap by writing and rewriting text at your level, then helping you hold on to what you learn from it.
How it works
LingunAI runs one loop: read, keep, review, use.
- Read. StorySplice writes a complete story at any CEFR level from A1 to C2, built around the words you choose. The article reader rewrites an article you paste in, in the language you’re learning, at the level you pick.
- Keep. Select any word while you read and it becomes a flashcard, with the definition, synonyms and examples filled in by hand or by AI.
- Review. Cards come back on a spaced-repetition schedule (by default after 1, 3, 7 and 15 days), so you see each word again just as you’re about to forget it.
- Use. Practice in roleplay conversations, ask the AI tutor about anything that confused you, and check your own writing with the grammar coach.
Why reading
Reading gives you what drills can’t: thousands of words in context, grammar seen in real sentences, and a reason to keep going because the text is about something. Research on second-language reading points the same way. Learners understand a text comfortably when they know about 95 to 98 percent of its words, which is why the level of the text matters so much. The guide on how to learn a language by reading explains the method in full.
Built for adults
LingunAI is designed to respect your time and intelligence. The tools explain rather than cheer, and the AI writes at the level you ask for, so your study time goes into reading, not decoding. AI-written text is very good but not perfect, so treat it like a capable tutor: trust it for practice and check anything that matters.

Questions, answered
01 What is LingunAI?
LingunAI is a web app for learning languages by reading. It writes short stories at your CEFR level around the words you want to practice, rewrites articles you paste in at the level you choose, and turns any word you select into a flashcard reviewed with spaced repetition. It also includes a grammar coach, roleplay conversation practice and an AI tutor.
02 Which languages can I learn with LingunAI?
You can currently learn English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Turkish, Persian, and Hungarian. Every language works the same way: stories and articles at your level from A1 to C2, select-a-word flashcards and spaced-repetition review. The app's interface is in English.
03 Is LingunAI free?
Yes, there's a free plan with no card required. It includes a one-time allowance of AI credits to try every tool, and flashcards you make by hand, with review, quizzes, import and export, are free and unlimited. Pro and Premium add monthly credits, and Premium removes ads.
04 Does LingunAI have a mobile app?
LingunAI runs in the web browser on phones and tablets as well as computers, so there's nothing to install and no app-store download. Your stories, decks and progress are the same on every device you sign in on.
05 How is LingunAI different from Duolingo?
Duolingo teaches through short gamified lessons and is strong for beginners building a daily habit. LingunAI is built for learners who want to read: it gives you whole stories and articles at your level and turns the words you meet into flashcards, which suits intermediate learners who've outgrown drills.
