In a small hill town there was a big clock, but it had a problem. Every night it stopped at exactly 3:07. Every morning the clockmaker, Mr. Varga, climbed the tower and started it again. The mayor was angry.
Nina, a girl of ten, wanted to find out why. One night she sat in the square with a flashlight and a cup of hot chocolate. At 3:06 she heard a small noise. A thin gray cat jumped through a broken window and went to sleep on the clock. Then the clock stopped!
Nina did not chase the cat. The next morning she asked Mr. Varga for a basket. They fixed the window and put the basket next to the clock. The clock never stopped again, and the town called the cat Minute.
