Last Saturday was the tenth anniversary of my friends Pavel and Nadia. Pavel planned a surprise party for Nadia. Nadia planned a surprise party for Pavel. Pavel said, "I have a meeting until nine." Nadia said, "I have a work dinner until nine." Then each of them asked friends to hide in the apartment.
At half past eight I went in with a cake. It was dark, but I heard whispers. People were hiding behind the sofa, under the table and in the bathtub. I squeezed into the wardrobe next to a stranger. "Are you Pavel's friend?" he whispered. "No, I'm Nadia's," I said. "Oh no," he said.
At nine, a key turned in the door. Pavel and Nadia came in together, and thirty people shouted, "SURPRISE!" The couple looked at the crowd and at each other. Then they started to laugh.
