In the Harbor Tower, the elevator has rules. Rule one: watch the numbers. Rule two: never speak. Rule three: never look at anyone. On Monday the elevator stops between floors seven and eight. Six people are inside. For five minutes nobody speaks. A happy song plays again and again. Then Rafi, the courier, says, "Does anyone hate this song?" "Me!" says everyone. The boss, Mr. Landau, says, "I chose it." They all laugh and sing badly. After thirty minutes the doors open. The next day they hum the song together.
