The Interview in the Car Park

A2 · Elementary · 1 min read

Noa had a job interview at ten. She arrived at half past nine. In the car park, a man was kneeling beside a car with a flat tire. "I am hopeless with cars," he said.

Noa's father had taught her to change a wheel. "I have an interview," she said. But the nuts were stuck, and it took half an hour. The man only said, "Good luck."

At 10:05 she walked in with black hands. Three people sat at a table, and a fourth chair was empty. Then the door opened. It was the man from the car park! "Sorry I'm late," he said. "A stranger helped me." He looked at Noa. "I have been interviewing you for half an hour. I like your hands." She got the job. The next day a box arrived: "For your next stranger."
