The two men who wanted to be mayor of a small village only talked about one thing: parking. They talked about it every day, and everybody was tired of it. For a joke, some teenagers put up posters of Mr. Whiskers, the baker's cat. "Vote for Whiskers!" they wrote.
On election day the villagers were so tired of the argument that they quietly voted for the cat. He won by 212 votes. There was a serious ceremony, and Mr. Whiskers wore a very small sash.
The new mayor made some decisions by sleeping on the papers. The meetings now ended at five o'clock, so everyone could have dinner. There was a fish stall in the square. And nobody argued anymore, because you cannot be angry with a cat on the table.
