A sudden snowstorm caught four hikers on the mountain: Ida, a nurse; Jonas, a student; his little sister Pia, who was nine; and Mr. Lee, a retired teacher. They found a tiny hut with a wood stove, one candle and a deck of cards.
Each of them had only a little food: noodles, an onion, a stock cube and some cheese. Together they cooked a big dinner. Then they played cards, told stories and laughed until midnight.
At dawn the snow stopped, and the lights of a rescue team came up the path. "Let's meet here again," said Mr. Lee. Everyone agreed. The next summer, there were four sleeping bags in the hut again.
