In the big train station there was an old piano with a sign: "Please play." In the morning rush, hundreds of people hurried past it. Then a small boy sat down and played a simple tune with one finger.
Nobody stopped, but then a woman in a long coat sat beside him and began to play a slow, beautiful piece. The whole hall became quiet. A man with a briefcase joined in with jazz chords, and a street musician added a melody on his violin. A guard tapped his foot.
When the morning rush ended, they finished with one big chord. They nodded to each other and walked away in different directions. A cleaner left a note on the piano. It said, "Thank you."
