Every morning before sunrise, Joon swept the main street. Nobody saw him, but he knew the city by its sounds: the baker's first oven, the newspaper van and the nurse's quick steps. He swept carefully around a sleeping dog. When he found a lost wallet, he took it to the police kiosk.
One morning he found a paper cup of hot coffee on his bench. There was a note: "For the person who keeps our city clean, from room 4B." Joon drank the coffee, swept more slowly and smiled. The next day there was another cup, and a child's drawing.
